PeopleSoft and Genesys Announce Reseller Agreement to Deliver Leading Contact Center Solutions

PLEASANTON, CA -- Dec. 9, 2004 -- PeopleSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) today announced a new global reseller agreement with contact center software leader Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, Inc., an Alcatel company (NYSE:ALA) (BOURSE:CGEP). Under the agreement, PeopleSoft and Genesys will collaborate on product roadmaps and continue their development of solutions that combine Genesys contact center software and PeopleSoft(R) Enterprise Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications. The first offering under the new agreement is an out-of-the-box CTI (computer telephony integration) solution that pre-integrates Genesys 7 software with PeopleSoft Enterprise Service applications and CRM analytics (versions 8.8 and 8.9).

PeopleSoft's comprehensive service applications empower customers with a broad choice of communication methods -- including web self-service, chat, phone, fax and e-mail -- through a multichannel contact center. Genesys' infrastructure-independent software routes customer interactions across communication channels to the appropriate service agent or company resource. Since 2001, PeopleSoft and Genesys have offered integrated solutions that increase agent productivity and optimize customer service by ensuring customers are routed to the right agents via the right communication channel, and that agents are equipped with the information they need to address customer requests.

Unique features of the companies' new, integrated out-of-the-box CTI offering include:

-- Server-side, rather than client-side, integration of Genesys software and PeopleSoft applications through a new Genesys Gplus Adapter for PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM. The new thin-client solution reduces hardware and software desktop configuration and administration requirements.

-- An open API (application programming interface) that allows customers to modify the agent interface using only JavaScript and HTML. System integrators can also use JavaScript to easily connect PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM with other CTI applications.

-- Advanced analytic functionality, including the ability to display statistics such as internal queue stats and average call wait time on the service agent and service supervisor's desktop. With PeopleSoft CRM analytics integrated into the contact center, agents receive instant customer insight at every point of interaction.

In addition, PeopleSoft will sell and support the Genesys Framework and the new, server-side Genesys Gplus Adapter for PeopleSoft. As a result, PeopleSoft customers can now buy Genesys software as part of a complete PeopleSoft contact center package, simplifying the procurement, implementation, and maintenance of an integrated contact center solution.
