Bank of America Opens 50,000 Square Foot Call Center Facility in Wichita, Kansas

WICHITA, KANSAS - Bank of America is turning to the heartland to deal with a flood of new customers. The Charlotte-based bank has expanded its call center in Wichita, Kansas. The original call center in Wichita opened in 1997 and employed 285 people. Another 60 jobs will be added as the center opens in a new, 50-thousand-square-foot facility.

Dayton Ohio Call Center to Hire 140 More Workers

Dayton OHIO, -- InfoCision Management Corp., which announced in September it would add 50 workers to its call center in Riverside, has plans to hire an additional 140 workers by the end of the year. The center decided in the past few weeks to tack on an additional 20,000 square feet to the 6,000-square-foot expansion that already was underway to create more room for the extra workers, said Misty Sayre-Ray, call center manager.

Ayala Plans to Expand Philippines Call Centers

Manila, Philippines -- The billionaire Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala II said he planned to open more call centers in the Philippines, where revenue from business outsourcing services is forecast to surge more than sixfold by 2012. Ayala Corp. bought an 11 percent stake in the call center operator eTelecare Global Solutions in June, and is looking for more investments, Zobel, Ayala's chief executive officer, said in an interview. The 7,000 employees of eTelecare make sales calls and answer customer queries for companies in the financial, telecommunications, electronics and travel industries.

Comcast to Add 130 Jobs at Malden, MA Call Center

Comcast, which is headquartered in Philadelphia, said demand for its services necessitated hundreds of hires over the next 90 days in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut. Comcast provides cable, Internet and digital voice services. Comcast plans to hire approximately 130 employees to its call center in Malden.

New 300 Seat Call Center to Open in Concord, NC

Concord, NC -- A Florida company that operates contact centers plans to open a new call center in North Carolina and hire some 300 workers, officials said. Connextions Inc. and its affiliate, Connextions Health Inc., of Orlando, Fla., plan to invest $4.4 million in the operation of a 40,000-square-foot call center in Concord, NC. The company employs more than 1,200 call center employees in Florida to take orders and answer questions for companies such as Sprint, Olympus, Caremark, and UnitedHealth.

Google Plans 1,000 Seat Call Center in Ann Arbor, MI

Ann Arbor, MI -- July 11, 3006 -- Google Inc. plans to announce on Tuesday plans to build an office and research center in Ann Arbor, Michigan that will have up to 1,000 employees. The new space would be used for a technology and call center. About 40,000 square feet will be used to house a library digitization project, which has been slowed by court challenges over copyrights.

New Fidelity Call Center in Jacksonville to Employ 1,200

Fidelity Investments has announced that it will open a call center this fall in Jacksonville. The contact center -- Fidelity's fifth in the U.S. -- will eventually employ 1,200 employees; 400 will be hired by yearend. Their average salary will be $50,000. Fidelity, which manages $1.2 trillion of assets, will target recent college graduates for the customer-service positions. It will spend $27 million to renovate the office.

New Call Center to Open in Deland, FL

Deland FL, -- Stamford, Conn.-based Citizens Communications Co. will open a customer service call center here in August that will result in up to 500 jobs by the end of next year, the company announced this week. Citizens' Frontier unit, which provides local telephone and related services in rural and small- to medium-sized markets, will open its call center on Aug. 1 and be fully operational by Oct. 1, spokeswoman Karen Miller said.
